Connect Apple Health and every device that writes to it comes with it.

Apple Health is the hub on your iPhone. Apple Watch, Oura, Garmin, Polar and most scales and straps write to it through their own apps. Sixteen reads the result, so one connection covers almost everything.

How it connects

The data path, exactly.

Sixteen asks for read access to specific Apple Health categories. It reads on your phone, builds your baselines there, and writes nothing back unless you ask it to save a workout.

Setup

  1. Open Sixteen, go to Integrations, tap Connect Apple Health.
  2. Turn on every category you want Sixteen to read. You can change this later in Settings, Health, Data Access.
  3. Make sure your other apps are writing to Apple Health. In Oura, Garmin Connect or Polar Flow, enable the Apple Health sync.

What comes across

  • Sleep analysis and stages
  • Heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV
  • Respiratory rate and mindfulness minutes
  • Workouts, steps, active energy, cardio fitness
  • Dietary energy and macronutrients
  • Body mass
  • Data a third party app keeps to itselfIf a device does not write a metric to Apple Health, Sixteen cannot see it

Good to know

  • Third party apps decide what they write. Oura writes sleep and heart data, Garmin Connect writes sleep, heart rate and workouts.
  • Sync timing depends on the other app opening and pushing its data.
  • HRV from Apple Health is a summary value, so Sixteen builds baselines from nightly averages.
